Jon Ryan Heilman, known affectionately as Ryan, passed away on September 6, 2024, in Long Beach, California, at the age of 40. Born on June 7, 1984, in Weirton, West Virginia, Ryan grew into a compassionate and adventurous individual, touching lives across numerous states through his dedicated career as a travel Emergency Nurse.
Ryan's journey in healthcare saw him providing critical care in various states including West Virginia, South Carolina, South Dakota, Hawaii, Alaska, and California. His commitment was profoundly evident during the Covid crisis, where he traveled extensively to aid those in dire need of medical assistance. A graduate of Weir High School and Fairmount University, Ryan was not only academically accomplished but also carried a deep passion for life outside his professional endeavors.
An enthusiastic lover of nature, Ryan found solace and joy in the outdoors. Whether it was climbing and running with his beloved dog, Miska, in the mountains, or swimming and boarding in the ocean, he embraced the natural world wholeheartedly. His interest in photography allowed him to capture the serene and exhilarating moments of his adventures, sharing the beauty he saw with others.
Ryan leaves behind a legacy of love and care, survived by his Sister Christy Del Ben, Mother Terry Heilman, Father Jon Heilman, and Stepmother Laura Schuler. His love for animals is a testament to his kind-hearted nature, often seen with Miska his dog by his side.
Those wishing to honor Ryan's memory can make contributions to the Long Beach Animal Care Services or your local animal shelter, an organization close to his heart. Arrangements for his farewell are being handled by Armstrong, Garcia & McKenzie Mortuary located at 931 Venice Blvd., Los Angeles, CA.
Ryan's life was a beacon of kindness and adventure, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His spirit, encapsulated by his love for both people and nature, will continue to inspire.
